Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba as manager Michael Carrick looks to strengthen his midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.
United have reportedly submitted an opening £60 million offer plus up to £5 million in add-ons for the 22-year-old Cameroon international. Brighton believe the initial bid falls short of their valuation, but negotiations between the two clubs remain positive.
Baleba has become a key player for Brighton since joining from Lille in 2023, making 112 appearances for the club across all competitions. Manchester United see his physicality, defensive ability and midfield presence as valuable additions to Carrick's squad.
The potential deal would continue United's summer midfield rebuild following the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
With talks ongoing, Manchester United will now look to reach an agreement with Brighton and bring Baleba to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.
